Lolan Mackey is a highly recognized retail authority with over 31 years of retail, leadership, strategic planning, merchandising, new store planning, store operations, organization, team development, motivational training and international operations experience.
Mr. Mackey started his career in retail with Gibson Discount Stores in Springfield, Missouri and then joined Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in 1972 during its early years as a discount retailer when the company had only 30 stores. Spending over 25 years with Wal-Mart, Mr. Mackey had an outstanding career where he contributed significantly to the success and growth of the corporation while carrying out Sam Walton's traditions and retail vision.
With the experience of being a Regional Vice-President and a Vice-President of Store Planning, plus the fact he is bilingual (speaking Spanish and some Portuguese), Mr. Mackey was chosen to be Vice-President of Store Operations in the international division in charge of Brazil, Argentina and Puerto Rico. He was responsible for the daily operations, sales, expense control, profit, planning, execution, training, competition, leadership, location recommendations, merchandise layout and financial planning of all stores in these countries.
Mr. Mackey is recognized for his expertise in organizational management, communications, training, integrity, people skills, and high sense of urgency. Throughout Mr. Mackey's career he has been regarded as a top management talent for turning aggressive corporate goals into reality.
A talented and motivated speaker Mr. Mackey has conducted speaking engagements on Time Management, Shrinkage Awareness, Mentorship, Associate Ownership, Team Building, Merchandising, New Store Planning, Store Operations, and Communications.
Mr. Mackey also attended Hartford Graduate Leadership School, Dale Carnegie, Walton Leadership Foundation and the Marine Corp Leadership Training.
In 1997 Mr. Mackey retired from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to begin a career in Consulting to help other companies achieve their highest potential.
